Swedes win relay
Linn Svahn, Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson and Jonna Sundling won the relay at the Coop FIS Cross-Country World Cup 2024 in Oberhof. The Swedish women dominated the 4x 7.5-kilometer race right from the start and left the competitors behind.
Second place went to the DSV team with Katherine Sauerbrey (SC Steinbach-Hallenberg), Katharina Hennig (WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal), Pia Fink (SV Bremelau) and Victoria Carl (SCM Zella-Mehlis). „They ran really well. Everyone fought hard. And Victoria Carl in particular showed what she is made of“, said national coach Peter Schlickenrieder. The local heroine almost flew over the course and made up a good 45 seconds over three laps.
Johanna Matintalo, Anne Kyllonen, Krista Parmakoski and Jasmi Joensuu from Finland completed the podium and were celebrated by the 2500 fans in the LOTTO Thüringen ARENA on the Rennsteig. „It was a festival for the skiing family in the snow-covered Thuringian Forest, not only for the top stars, but also for children and fans to watch and explore the region. The overall experience is brilliant. It makes the cross-country heart beat faster“, Peter Schlickenrieder summarized.
